Wendy’s: Viral Video Swing

This is Wendy’s first swing at viral video. I was disappointed. The viral video is not funny and not appetizing. Basically, it is not worth talking about at the water cooler.

The article in Advertising Age is a great article going into more detail about the video.

2 Major Reasons to Create Viral Videos

Money. As noted in the Advertising Age article, viral videos are less expensive to produce compared to a commercial. When I was on reality TV for a show called American Inventor, the production was huge. Cameras, city permits, director, are just a few of the expenses.

Speed. If you film a commercial, it takes time to launch since the company has to by ad spots. It is simple and quick to upload the video to social networks such as Youtube and other platforms. Commercials are a big investments so companies also do more research such as analyzing what time and during which shows to air the commercial.

After many years, “Where’s the beef?” line is still being used.
