Like a food snob guru skipping down the street, I was right. In last few posts, I have been taking readers along my journey through L.A. taste tour. Consistently, I have said that restaurants that produce EXPERIENCE will lead to success. Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffles has buzz from being in Hollywood films to serving famous hip hop, athletes, and entertainers. Asked myself, “Where’s Snoop Dogg sipping on his gin and juice?”
Entering through wood panel doors, the dim light manifested itself as a great place to whisper drug deals or other seedy transactions. The wood tables, dining fixtures, are all none spectacular.

Food.
The grabby ambiance mismatched the food prices. For one waffle and chicken wing, it cost me $8. Served scorching hot, the chicken was dry and lacked seasoning. Save your money and drive over to Popeye’s chicken. Soft on the inside, the waffle gave me a better impression. The syrup, butter, waffle, chicken, were all sub par. Contrasting sweet and savory, the chicken and waffle combination has great promise but just need to be prepared with more culinary touches. Go for the buzz, take your dam picture, and scoot your butt out of there. The food is parallel to local chains such as Denny’s or IHOP.

Bad food, but strong buzz can generate business. Combining sweet and salty, fried chicken and waffles – two American food icons, created a buzz in the food industry. Americans just are in love with Hollywood and some may find themselves rubbing elbows at Roscoe’s. The target audience is for junk food eaters who don’t value culinary art. I went to Roscoe’s purely on buzz, so I have fallen for the bait as well. Steve J told me that a Thai place in L.A. serves a plate of cheap Thai food and a beer. Now, the place is known as “Thai Beer.”

My ideas for sweet and savory combos:
-Jose’s burrito & a churro
-Fabio’s deli sandwich & biscotti
-Yuki’s sushi rolls & a mochi ball
-Mr. Fu’s fly fried rice & almond cookies
